Who We Are
At KP Home & Pet Care, our name comes directly from us — K for Katie and P for Phil.
We're a husband-and-wife team who built KP Home & Pet Care around something simple: providing the kind of dependable, personal service we'd want for our own home and pets.
Together, we bring decades of experience in business, property inspections, insurance, customer service, and caring for homes and animals. We live and work right here in the Wellen Park community, and when you trust us with your home or pets, you're dealing directly with us — not a rotating staff or large service company.
Our goal is simple: to give you confidence that your home and pets are being cared for by people you know and trust while you're away.
Meet Katie (The K in KP)
Katie brings more than 17 years of experience as a dance teacher, including 13 years as the owner of her own dance studio. Running a successful studio gave her years of hands-on experience in business ownership, organization, customer service, and building lasting relationships with families.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Art History from EUP, and her career has also included working in the Florida insurance industry and as a school teacher.
Katie is creative, organized, dependable, and genuinely loves caring for both people and animals. Whether she's looking after someone's home or caring for their pets, she brings the same patience, attention to detail, and personal touch that have been part of everything she's done throughout her career.
For Katie, this business is about more than providing a service — it's about making people feel comfortable knowing that someone who truly cares is looking after the things that matter to them.
Meet Phil (The P in KP)
Phil brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, finance, management, business operations, and professional training. In 2006, he partnered with two experienced mentors and began consulting with businesses across the country, helping improve operations, sales, and overall performance.
His career later expanded into the property and insurance industries. Phil became a licensed home inspector and started his own successful home inspection company in Pennsylvania. He has also worked extensively in property insurance and large-loss claims, including assessing significant property damage following Hurricane Ian in Florida.
His connection with animals goes back even further. Phil has spent many years caring for dogs and cats and began volunteering with a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center at just 14 years old.
Today, he combines that experience with a genuine appreciation for homes, animals, and the people who trust KP Home & Pet Care to look after them. His attention to detail, property knowledge, and problem-solving experience bring an added level of confidence to every Home Watch visit and pet-care stay.
From Pennsylvania to Florida
After years of building careers and owning successful businesses in Pennsylvania, Katie and Phil decided it was time for a new chapter. They sold their businesses and home, packed up, and made the move to Florida.
Their careers eventually led both of them into the Florida insurance industry, where their experience with homes, property, customer service, and helping people through unexpected situations continued to grow.
Over time, those experiences — along with their shared love of animals and desire to build something of their own again — came together in KP Home & Pet Care.
What began as an idea has grown into a local, husband-and-wife business built around something they both value: taking care of people's homes and pets with the same attention and respect they would expect for their own.
Today, Katie's compassion, organization, and personal touch combined with Phil's property knowledge, attention to detail, and business experience make KP Home & Pet Care a team clients can know, trust, and depend on.
